About

Our History

Stress Free Movers began its journey in 2009 when Lawrence Townsend saw how stressful moving could be for ordinary families and small businesses across the U.S. Without access to honest pricing, reliable crews, or clear timelines, many people felt overwhelmed. Lawrence Townsend decided to change that, starting small with one truck and a simple promise: treat every customer’s move like it was their own.

Key Milestones

2009: In its first year, Stress Free Movers focused on local moves — students to apartments, families to new homes, seniors downsizing. Lawrence Townsend set clear schedules, no hidden fees, and careful handling. Word-of-mouth quickly grew the business.
2005: By 2005, repeat clients needed interstate moves. Stress Free Movers secured licenses, added GPS-tracked trucks, trained crews for long hauls, and included packing/unpacking as core services.
2010: In 2010, Stress Free Movers opened a warehouse for short- and long-term storage, supporting clients between homes or renovations. Insurance partnerships provided solid protection for residential and commercial moves.
2015: In 2015, Stress Free Movers added equipment for pianos, pool tables, gym gear, boats, plus climate-controlled trucks. Digital estimating and inventory tools reduced errors and improved scheduling.
2020: In 2020, during COVID-19, Stress Free Movers offered contactless estimates, strict cleaning, and protective gear. Demand for residential moves rose, pricing stayed steady, building customer trust.
2024: By 2024, Stress Free Movers completed over 25,000 moves, staying mid-sized to focus on reliability. Partnerships with real estate agents and small businesses drove repeat and referral work.
